I asked a REPUBLICAN, “Why can’t corporations pay their share of taxes and a living wage at the same time?”

 

As of now minimum wage is a starvation wage $7.25 and corporations got a 14% tax cut allowing 91 Fortune 500 to pay no taxes, including Amazon , Shell...

 

He says, “If corporations have to pay any more everything will cost more, people will lose their jobs and the economy will suffer or collapse. I don’t know anyone who makes minimum wage but people should stop being stupid and get a better job that pays more.”

 

He defended corporations without hesitation, who are paying next to nothing right now, and was merciless toward the working poor who are literally starving.

 

I told him he was wrong, corporation costs don’t affect the price of goods and services, the market determines that. Any economist will tell you.

 

And, “We have “stupid people” who are working 40 hours a week, as hard if not harder, doing jobs people don’t want. Do “stupid people” not deserve to eat?”

 

He didn’t have much to say, except he was convinced if corporations pay taxes and a living wage and everyone has enough to eat, the market/economy will collapse, people would be out of jobs, consumers would have to pay for it all.

 

Republicans have blocked minimum wage increases for 10 years to an inhumane degree and wage. They have convinced people that raising minimum wage would crash the market. This is non sense.

Republicans convince people that a corporate/wealthy tax cut is the best way to stimulate the economy. This is non sense.

Republicans cut taxes of the wealthy and corporations who now pay less taxes than the middle class. This should not happen.

 

The REPUBLICANS KNOW THIS but they work for the corporations and the wealthy, when are asked to pay their share, republicans will say it would be ‘the end of the world’.

 

Indeed it will for republicans. If corporations and wealthy are held to account, the market/economy will be fine. Better. Many republicans will be unemployed and cut off from the gravy train.

 

So when they tell you fairness, decency and humanity will collapse the market/economy and everyone will suffer, this is what they have to say to keep people afraid to continue corporate welfare.
